How long do I need to review a product?

How long do I need to review a product?

90 days sounds long, but how many days you actually need to assess a product varies. Some products you'll judge in 5 minutes, others take a few weeks to get used to. In this article you'll see what to expect.

Simple products: assess right away

Some products you can assess immediately once you start using them. Think of:

  • A cable tray
  • A CPU holder
  • A document holder
  • A wrist rest

Does it fit, is it secure, does it do what you want? Usually you'll know within a few minutes.

Products you use daily: need some adjustment time

Ergonomic products you use every day take some getting used to. Think of:

  • An ergonomic mouse
  • An ergonomic keyboard
  • An office chair

Plan for a few days to two weeks to adjust properly. An ergonomic mouse may feel unfamiliar at first, but that's normal. Only after a week or longer will you have a fair opinion.

Tip: don't return it right away, give it time first

Does the product arrive and feel different than you hoped? Give it some time. Judging an ergonomic product too quickly can be harsh. If it still isn't your preference after the adjustment period? Then you can go ahead with a return without worry.
