Is your Contour Unimouse wireless (Bluetooth version) not working as it should? A reset returns the wireless connection to default mode. This is helpful after a connection problem, when switching to a new computer, or if the mouse "acts strange" without a clear reason. In this article, you'll find step-by-step instructions on how to perform the reset.
When should you do a reset?
A reset is usually the right step if:
- The cursor responds slowly or not at all, even though the mouse is on
- Bluetooth pairing with your computer fails
- The dongle is no longer recognized by your computer
- You want to move your Unimouse to a different computer
Try the simple checks first before you reset: turn the mouse on using the switch on the bottom, charge the battery, and try the USB port where the dongle goes.
What does a reset do?
A reset returns the wireless function to automatic pairing mode. The Unimouse then searches for the first available connection (Bluetooth or dongle) on its own, without you having to choose. Your settings for cursor speed, middle click button, and thumb support remain unchanged.
The reset procedure in 3 steps
- Make sure your Unimouse is on (switch on the bottom set to ON).
- Hold down the Cursor Speed button (E).
- While holding button E, press the left mouse button (A) once briefly, then release both buttons.
Done. Your Unimouse is now back in automatic pairing mode.
Reconnecting afterwards
After the reset, reconnect the Unimouse to your computer. Two options:
- Via Bluetooth: open the Bluetooth settings on your computer and pair the Unimouse as a new device. See the related help center article on connecting for the full steps.
- Via the dongle: insert the USB dongle into a free USB port. The Unimouse will be recognized automatically.
Tips
- Don't reset more often than necessary. After each reset you need to reconnect.
- Check the battery first. When the battery is below 20%, an LED light will blink. Charge first, then reset.
- Reset not working? Connect the USB charging cable between your Unimouse and your computer. The wired connection overrides all wireless settings, and the mouse will work right away.
Frequently asked questions
Will I lose my cursor speed (DPI) after a reset?
No. The reset only changes the wireless connection mode. Your preferred settings remain.
How do I know the reset was successful?
Your Unimouse returns to automatic pairing mode and is ready to reconnect. The cursor will not respond until you establish the connection.
Does this procedure also work for my wired Unimouse or the older wireless version without Bluetooth?
No. These steps apply only to the Unimouse Wireless, Bluetooth version. Other versions have their own procedures. Please refer to the relevant manual in that case.
My Unimouse isn't responding at all, not even to the reset buttons. What now?
Connect the USB charging cable between your Unimouse and your computer. If it works then, the battery is probably empty. Charge for at least an hour before trying again.
These instructions apply to the Contour Unimouse wireless (Bluetooth). For the wired Unimouse or the older wireless version without Bluetooth, the steps differ.
