Your Contour Rollermouse Red trackpad wireless works on Windows, macOS and Linux, but for best performance you should set the correct control mode. You can also personalise the rollerbar itself: both the click force and the volume of the click sound are adjustable. Read on to find out how.
The RollerMouse has three modes:
By default, the RollerMouse is set to PC-mode. Working on macOS or Linux? Then switch to the corresponding mode for optimal operation of the Copy and Paste buttons and other shortcuts.
Click force is the amount of resistance you feel when you press the rollerbar to register a click. Find the click too heavy or too light? Then adjust it yourself.
Want the rollerbar to no longer click when you press it? Adjust the click force until all LEDs light up at the same time. The click function is then completely disabled.
In addition to the click force, you can also set the volume of the rollerbar click. The RollerMouse has 6 different volume levels for this.
Set the volume until all LEDs light up at the same time. The click sound is then completely disabled, useful in quiet offices or during video calls.
My Copy/Paste buttons don't work as expected. Check that the control mode matches your operating system (PC for Windows, Mac for macOS, HID for Linux). Switch to the correct mode using the steps above.
What is the difference between click force and click sound? Click force is how heavy the rollerbar feels to press, that is a mechanical setting. Click volume is how loud the click sound you hear is, that is an acoustic setting. You can adjust them independently of each other.
How do I know which mode my RollerMouse is in? Hold B and D at the same time for two seconds. The LEDs immediately show the current mode before you switch. Release both buttons before pressing D again to just view.
Does the RollerMouse work without setting a specific mode? Yes. PC-mode is the default setting and works immediately on Windows. For macOS or Linux, a mode change is often desirable for optimal operation of the Copy/Paste buttons and other system-specific functions.
Can I disable the rollerbar as a left mouse button? Yes, by adjusting the click force until all LEDs light up. The rollerbar then functions only as cursor movement. For clicking, you then use the Left-click button (E).
What work environments is HID-mode intended for? HID-mode (Human Interface Device) is a standard protocol recognised by virtually any operating system without drivers. In addition to Linux, HID-mode is also useful in secure work environments where you are not allowed to install software, or for certain thin clients.
These instructions apply to the Contour Rollermouse Red trackpad wireless.
